Ruth Wilshaw

I am a self-taught gouache artist, inspired by nature and always looking for that little spark of magic to add to my paintings. I paint mostly landscapes, often with a little sprinkle of fantasy to satisfy my deep love of fairy tales and adventure stories.

My creative journey started with explorations in other mediums, including charcoal, oils and watercolor before discovering and falling in love with gouache. Gouache provides the perfect combination of bold, opaque color with the flexibility of a water-soluble medium; perfect for the modern artist!

When I'm not painting with gouache, I'm busy encouraging others to give it a go. I love to share my work and process videos on social media and support other artists wanting to try out this quirky medium.
